Trib — Redefining Community Engagement Through Web3 Gaming

Trib (formerly TriviaBase) is a Web3-powered Q&A gaming platform that enhances community engagement through interactive quizzes, tournaments, and rewards.

Originally launched as an Hackathon submission for the Base Network, the project has since evolved into a full-fledged product with an upgraded brand, multi-wallet support, and gamified features.

My Role

✅ Product Designer

✅ Brand Identity Design

✅ Graphic & Presentation Designer

✅ No-code Developer (Framer)

TL;DR

I led the entire design process from rebrand and website design to product (WebApp & DApp) UI/UX. Transforming a Base hackathon prototype into a scalable platform with AI-powered question generation, gamification features, and multi-wallet support.

Key wins

Rebrand: TriviaBase → Trib with a bold, community-first identity.

Product Growth: Redesigned sleek WebApp + DApp, wallet integrations, and gamified features.

Community Engagement: Demoed in communities across Nigeria, the U.S., and Africa.

Partnerships: Powered trivia games for BitcoinPizzaDay, proving value in Web3 cultural events.

The Challenge

Communities in Web3 often struggle to:

✅ Sustain engagement beyond token incentives.

✅ Offer fun, rewarding activities that are easy for members to join.

✅ Onboard web2 Users seamlessly due to lack of technical understanding and relatively high barrier to entry.

TriviaBase started as an experiment, but as adoption grew, and users interaction was studied, we needed to:

✅ Rebrand into a stronger, community-focused identity (Trib).

✅ Redesign the product UI for clarity, usability, and scalability.

✅ Support multi-wallet payouts beyond Base Network.

✅ Add gamified layers like badges, tournaments, and AI-powered question generation.

✅ Simplify the onboarding process more. Especially for Web2 users.

The Solution

Rebrand

✅ Developed a bold, community-first identity.

✅ Designed a logo, color palette, and typography system that reflected simplicity and inclusivity.

✅ Created brand guidelines for consistency across WebApp, DApp, and marketing.

Product Design

✅ Redesigned the UI/UX for simplicity and fun.

✅ Implemented seamless wallet connection flows (Base + additional wallets using ThirdWeb).

✅ Designed host dashboards for community leaders to create games seamlessly with AI while being able to stack rewards.

✅ Created player experience screens: game lobby, live Q&A, leaderboard, prize distribution.

Gamification & Auto Q&A Generation

Tournament Badges: Custom designs for different milestones (e.g., Champion, Runner-Up, Top 10).

AI Question Generation: Integrated AI to auto-generate questions for hosts, reducing friction.

Website Design

✅ Designed a landing page to showcase Trib’s features, community benefits, and onboarding process.

Focused on clarity: What is Trib? How do I join? What are the key feature?

✅ Integrated sign-up and wallet connect flows directly from the website.

✅ Analyzed how trivia and gaming platforms outside Web3 (for example Kahoot) handle engagement.

✅ Refined UI to balance clean aesthetics with playful interactions.

✅ User multiple user test within and outside the team (on twitter spaces and physical events) to test adoption.

✅ Released MVP during Base Hackathon.

✅ Rebranded and relaunched with multi-wallet support, AI integration, badges, and tournaments.

✅ Partnered with PizzaDAO for large scale use case.

✅ Successfully rebranded from TriviaBase → Trib, creating a stronger, community-first identity and clearer messaging.

✅ Enhanced user engagement with AI-powered question generation and gamification features (tournament badges, leaderboards).

Community Engagement

✅ Demoed the app in communities across Nigeria, the U.S., and other parts of Africa, validating the product with real users.

✅ Received positive feedback on usability, rewards flow, and event hosting.

✅ Created an environment where communities could host games, build connections, and reward their members in real-time.

What I learned & next steps

Lessons

✅ Designing for Web3 Q&A product taught me how to simplify wallet complex Web3 projects into digestible quizzes.

✅ Building community-first design systems showed me the importance of identity in adoption.

✅ Working solo honed my ability to balance brand, product, and growth needs simultaneously.

Next Steps:

✅ Expand Trib into mobile-native experiences.

✅ Explore AI-driven personalized trivia challenges.
